A shot from a Parliamentary cannon damaged the wall beneath the Royalist cannon (Humpty Dumpty) which caused it to fall. The Royalists (Cavaliers), 'all the King's men' attempted to raise the cannon on to another part of the wall. It was so heavy ' All the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put Humpty together again!'. Colchester fell to the Parliamentarians after an 11 week siege.
