Twice winners of the Champions League 1999 and 2008 and winners of European Cup once in 1968. Winners of European Cup Winners Cup in 1991. Present holders of European Champions League beat Chelsea 6 - 5 on penalties in Moscow on 21 May 2008 after teams had drawn 1-1 after extra time. This win especially poignant as it came 40 years after the Munich Air Disaster which claimed the lives of several Manachester United players whilst returning from a game in Belgrade. Known forever more as the Busby Babes who had been brought together by the manager of the time Sir Matt Busby. Present manager Sir Alex Ferguson is the club's most successful manager, Ryan Giggs has played the most games for the club a record breaking total of 759.
