American Joshua Bell, born in Indiana in 1967, has become one of the most recognized violinists in the world. He first appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Ricardo Muti at the age of 14. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1985 and has since appeared with most of the leading orchestras in the world. He recorded the soundtrack for John Corigliano's Oscar-winning film, The Red Violin. In addition to his concert and recording career he is a senior lecturer at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
