It is found only in Malta and is on the Critically Endangered list, threatened by habitat loss.
New Zealand does not have an official national flower but the kowhai is the most commonly used unofficial one. The pohutukawa is also sometimes used, as is the silver fern which isn't actually a flower.
T is an indigenous hybrid between the Vanda teres and the Vanda hookerana and was first discovered in the garden of Miss Agnes Joaquim in 1893.
