U.S. State Capitals
Missouri's first state capital was in the city of St. Charles. It was later moved to St. Louis and finally to Jefferson City.
Richmond was made the capital of the Confederacy in 1861, at the outbreak of the American Civil War.
Olympia is more centrally located, south of Seattle at the bottom of Puget Sound.
