For all of you who told me I was just full of crap I have finally gotten the information you wanted earlier.  It is as I said it was but I now have the exact words and the source for all of you doubters.  I will not entertain any disagreement with this since it is valid and it backs up what I told you months ago.

In his book, "The Audacity of Hope", Barack Obama wrote

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political wind shift in an ugly direction."

This was found on page 261 of the paperback copy of "The Audacity of Hope".

Don't tell me to provide further documentation.  It is just as I said and if anyone needs more information to be satified that he said it PROVE ME WRONG.

Nice try HB - Opening MY copy to page 261 I find this - the ACTUAL quote: Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

Slightly different to your doctored version isn't it?

There was an email that did the rounds a while ago that had a bunch of spurious quotes from President Obama's writing. It included the one that HB quoted earlier.

There's a whole bunch of fact-checking websites which discuss the quotes and give the actual text:

In the past, sites I've references have been discounted as being left-wing. I've no idea if all the above are but this even Obdurman.org quotes the same text as Sally. They're keen to dispel urban legends because they state that "The truth will utterly and totally destroy Obama’s [presidential campaign] if we foster its growth and dissemination. Urban legends and out of context statements are weeds that obscure, dilute, and crowd out the things that will really help us."

Obviously, there are plenty of sites around that still quote HB's statement but I'd be surprised if anyone could provide a photograph of it in a printed copy of the book.

This is your usual leftist game.  It will come to pass that what I have provided is true.  I know it is true as I have read it with my own eyes and live it the country in which Obama is playing his games .  Don't anyone ever ask me to provide proof for anything I say again.  Nobody accepts the TRUTH anyway.  Sally?  A reseacher?  I don't think so nor do I think much of your examples of source telling the TRUTH!  Consider the source and financiers which keep those site and organiations going.  Stu, you should be ashamed of yourself. to encourage these falsehoods.  I just remove myself from you people as so biased I can never deal with you and I don't want to.

I am not a researcher - I am a fully qualified librarian specialising in referencing and I own a copy of the book.

Read what I said before going off half cocked - I didn't say YOU doctored it - I said what you wrote was a doctored version.  I say this as I do not believe you had a copy of the book because if you did you would see that my reproduction of the quote is correct.

As for my source - I repeat it is the book that Obama wrote - you know what a book is don't you? It is not hearsay, it is not an email I recieved in the mail - it is the actual book!

I will no longer even speak to people who ask for proof, get it and then reject it. There was nothing doctored in the book I saw, in my country not yours, where nearly every nitwit likes Obama.comment.  If the truth is not good enough for you people then nothing ever will be good enough.  I have come across this before when Margaret Sanger's OWN words were rejected as truth.  That was unbelievable.  I just wasn't raised to overlook the truth.  I am just walking away from you psuedo-experts.  I don't care what you think about anything because you are all so obviously incorrect about so many things.

Honey Badger, you have reminded me of a story about soldiers marching in formation - one soldier thinks to himself 'look at all these idiots marching out of step'. Of course it is actually he who is out of step with the march but is too stubborn and ignorant to even concieve it as a possibility, despite it being painfully obvious.

One of the skills we learn early on is how to adjust our beliefs when new, accurate information contradicts our own understanding of things. Some learn to adapt, grow, learn and in doing so come to have an open minded approach in life. Others don't really learn this skill at all. They react defensively when challenged, find information (regardless of accuracy) to support their understanding and find others of similar mind with which to discuss the issues, further ingraining incorrect beliefs and ensuring a closed mind. Honey Badger, you fall quite firmly in the latter, and unfortunately because of the type of 'research' you do, believe that you are the last bastion of your so called truth and must defend to the death.

Ok. I hope this works. Yesterday I went to the library and grabbed their copy of the book as I had left my one at home. They only had the Large Print version. I copied and PDFd the pages and then sought help from a fellow Facta person who turned them into jpgs for me.  Now I can produce the actual quote as it appears in the book.  There is the front cover, 2 pages as the paragraph goes over two pages, then the back cover so you can see the ISBN number of the issue.  This is evidence of my statement that HB is wrong. If she can reciprocate with photographic evidence of her own then I will certainly apologies. If she can't then she should just shut up.   Of course she can out  insult me - I'm a lady and won't lower myself to go tit for tat.

Anyhow - here are either the links of the actual pictures, or hopefully the pictures - working on iPad:

I think HB has a reading comprehension problem. That passage clearly states  "if the political winds change in an ugly direction" (i.e. radical nationalism, extreme prejudices, and other overbearing ridiculous actions that the Tea Party is trying to incoporate into the American psyche), then Obama will stand with those immigrants to ensure that their citizenship and rights are protected. To infer that it means anything else is self-serving, deliberatlely misleading, and thinly veiled racist in nature.

Owning both those books is pathetic and the quotes from the large print books are INCORRECT!     I could shove that snit obama up your nose and he could drum out his words directly onto to all of your tympanic membranes and you would still believe him.

I do not have a reading comprehension problem at all.  I graduated magna cum laude from a highly competitive university and so that is not even a issure.  The MAIN ISSUE here is that you are all blind to the fact that Obama is a destructive force in the USA and many of you are not US citisens (sp error noted, broken key)

AWESOME JOB, SALLY?  FOR WHAT?  For furthering false information and presenting herself as an expert on US policy?  Give me a break.  She is just another liberal who really wants to see Hillary, her cousin or something, elected President.  I don't think it will happen, Sally but I never thought I would see a boob like obama elected, either.  I like Sally.  Nothing personal.

kitsune, I don't know you at all and your assessment of me is so vacous it scarcely bears a response BUT OF COURSE I use my own brain and for my own ideas and I do not EVERr follow the crowd just because everyone else is playing follow the leader.  Do you remember a small skirmish call WWII and the German people being enamoured with a WONDERFUL LEADER name ADOLF HITLER?  Well those people fell into lock step and nobody stepped out of line, did they?  Well, damn it, they should have!  Why the hell should people follow a WRONG leader?  WE HAVE A WRONG LEADER!  He does not see the worldwide threat from worldwide radical ISLAM.  They chop peoples heads off and nothing is done about it and now they are starting to chip away at the world population with their small but very effective terror attacks, such as the Boston Marathon bombings, the killing a soldier in England, raiding a French publishing company, taking over an Australian chocolate shop.

NOW, here is my question, at least one of them, WHY hasn't OBAMA ascribed even one of these attacks, including the attack at Ft. Hood, clearly driven by radical Islam, to ISLAM  (and I am speaking of radical Islam through  out my writing.)  WHY can't HE call it what it is?  I think it's time a whole lot more US citisens started to ask what the hell their President is thinking and WHY isn't he being PROACTIVE in doing background checks on Islamists entering out country and following the students here on visas and seeing to it that they return home when they complete their studies?

Killerb,  This is not a little joking matter about the "tea party" of which I am not a member .  For all to know, I am a registered Independent (what else could I be) and I am concerned only with seeing my country preserved.  I am very sickened by the stupidity I see in America.  I see people who can't speak, who cannot do simple arithmetic, who take more than they give, people who don't know the most simple history about our country.  That really makes me angry.  They are not helping their country. There is no reason for the USA to be the banana republic is it rapidly becoming just because one man and his pals want us to be on the level of the rest of the world.  Our country has the workers and resources to be a great nation and to be independent.  That is how we should be.  As it is now, having been bamboosled for the past 6 years we will be attacked from within by small Islamic terror groups and we had better be tough in dealing with them.  I am not talking through my hat.  I spend a lot of time THINKING and my thought are good.  I know they are so don't ever doubt that.

Before you call me names and accuse me of being something I am not, just realise that if you don't wake up, all of you, American or European or Australian, whatever, you will be terrorised sooner or later by radicalised Islamist.  End of story and I want to hear BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA utter the words "Islamist Terrorsist just as the rest of the world leaders have done. That is what I want.  That is what we need to hear.

BY the way, that was not the quote of which I spoke!  LOL  JMK.....Nice try!   Jmax.  FYI,  I truly despise O'Reilly.  He is , in my opinion, the worst sort of person to ever listen to.  He leads his guests in the direction he wants, he doesn't let people speak, he is rude, crass, and worst of all, he has a completely parochial education as far as I know, except for some nebulous work at Harvard which I might know if I watch him but I only see him when my husband has him on and I walk through rthe room.  He is a charlatan.

Hmmm.....I seriously doubt that the large print books are different from the regular print books, but what the heck......prove it to us, you may be right.

As to the President not calling them Islamist Terrorists or blaming Islam well, it wouldn't be very smart. Seems to me that would be playing into the hands of the extremists who seek to show that the West is out to get all who follow Islam.

Here is a good article on the subject. Thomas Friedman is the founder of Statfor and has written many good books on a variety of issues.

I usually don't get into these forums but I must.

First, I am an American citizen and proud of it.  I stand behind our President because it is the patroitic and ethical thing to do.  As far as I am concerned if you do not support your President, the one person who represents our country around the world, then you support internal anarchy.

He is the living example of what we have called 'The American Dream". He wasn't born into wealth or priviledge; graduated from prestigious universities with honors; became a professor of Constitutional Law; became a community organizer to help the citizens of this country not some other country to at least have part of the 'Dream'.

We have not been attacked except for 'lone wolves' acting on their own accord, the stock market is booming, job growth has returned, inflation has been kept low, killed Bin Laden, deported more illegal aliens than any other President and steered us out of the recession and we still have a ways to go.

Now I do take offense at calling him a 'snit', a 'boob' and 'a destructive force'.  That is disrespectful of the President.  Although I considered George W. Bush an puppet of the industrial war complex, Wall Street mongrels and rich men wishing they were Gods, when he called for us to go to war over 'weapons of mass destruction' (lies, lies and damned lies) I supported the cause and supported our President.  President Obama has spoken out about the dangers of radical groups (Islam, Christian, put other religions and ideologies in there as well) and how if not attacked and nullified, they are a threat to not only Americans but to all humans who want to live as a free people.  But you cannot stop one person with a weak mind, lack of morale, will and access to guns and others with a idea that shooting innocents will change the world so they can be in control.

I see our real enemy as the members of Congress who are owned by corporate donors and lobbyist and the biggest welfare recipients as 'We' the American Citizens, pay their salaries, pay their medical benefits, their housing and their pensions for a working 122 days out of the year.  They won't bring bills to the floor that benefit the American people (jobs bill, unemployment relief, rebuilding the crumbling and dangerous infrastructure) but have found other ways to keep the people who massage their balls and caress their ticklers happy (lobbyist and financial donors).  In my profession (Human Resources Director) I would have terminated their employment immediately for insubordination, inability to perform the job they were given and denied then any benefits due them.

That's my speil.  And I don't wear rose colored glasses.

. Java, I will respond to you soon.  There are things I agree  with and things that I cannot agree with.  I will only say that it is every American's right to dislike the president and I dislike Obama.  The only thing I will clarify for you is this.  He could not have been "a Professor " of anything.  Do you know how long it takes to teach full time to become a professor?  I suggest that perhaps he taught a course here and there as an adjunct professor of Constiution Law, But then why doesn't HE respect the constitution.  Never mind. I don't feel like getting into the whole Obama thing.  I do NOT like him, do not TRUST him, am EMBARASSED by him, and you get the picture.

The Congress is a sad situation but Harry Reid had many bills he would not present to the senate.  Java, I don't want to get into it.  I am proud to be an American but I am sick of the Lobbies and the big businesses influencing what happend in our lawmaking process.  The lobbies should be  banned.

I guess it is alright to call George W. Bush names.  He was a puppet?  Nah, he was a dumb ass who didn't think things though and wasn't too bright to begin with.

In the meanwhile, I do agree with much of what you say but I will never give up my right to free speech.  I will speak about obama in any terms I wish.  I really know he's bad for out country.  He is incompetent, in my opinion. Most politicians are.  Anyway, Java, I like you so I am not attacking you.  And I owe an apology to Tabby for hurting her so I will remove the posts in which I insulted her inadvertently.

I just hope that in the 2016 election we have a qualified and competent president elected.  I love my country very much.

You know, The book example DOES NOT print the word in question which I gave you.  they are

"I WILL STAND WITH THE MUSLIMS SHOULD THE POLITICAL WIND SHIFT IN AN UGLY DIRECTION."  This does not fit in with the quote from the example in JMK's Book.  Check it out.

I have to validat this but I believe that he also said "that the most beautiful sound in the world  was the call to Muslim morning prayers".  I ADMIT I HAVEN'T CHECKED THIS OUT!!!!!

The book images are from Sally, I posted on her behalf. They show the same words that are in her own book on the page you quoted. I fail to see how you can hold onto your beliefs in the face of overwhelming evidence showing that you are mistaken. Unless you can post a photo the page from the actual book showing the words you state (which I don't believe actually exists) then I must conclude your source was not a reliable one.

JMK, the book passage you show does not show the EXACT WORD I WROTE!!!  YOU ARE INCORRECT.    Look, you just like the leftie President and I understand that you have your points of view but when you are wrong you are WRONG!  Admit you are at least NOT SURE!

All of Europe is now inflamed about the Islamist Terrorist attacks in Paris.  Our President refuses to utter the words Islamic terrorist AND he was absent, embarassingly, from the March of Solidarity of European Leaders who want to rid the radicalised Muslims from Europe.  Obama doesn't say a word. Yet, today a man was arrested for having elaborate plans and weapons to blow the Congressional buildings up!  We have to wake up!  They are not going away.  I am not writing anything else here.  You have been advised and most of the world is being careful from now on.  I leave you with the advise to think about how much damage these terrorists can do to the world economies, everyday life, every aspect of our lives.  I hope none of us is affected.  After losing 22 friend or acquaintences in 9/11 I have seen enough. I want then to be crushed. That is all I have to say.

lol... I think you need to go back and reread why the iamges were posted - they are disputing your original "quote" in the first post, where *you* incorrectly paraphrased "the Muslims" in place of the correct wording of "them" which is referring as previously mentioned in the paragraph that you conviniently omitted as "Arab and Pakastani Americans". So of course the images don't show the word you quoted - why would it?

You claimed that this quote was from the book and referenced it specifically, but you obviously didn't bother to actually read the quote on the page (I highly doubt that you even opened the book). Rather I believe that you found someone (probably online) who had incorrectly paraphrased it and copied it here as you proof believing your source to be accurate.
The images and quote shown by other members are almost certainly correct, whereas your original statement is just wrong. There is no mention of Muslims, simply Arab and Pakastani Americans.

My personal and/or political feelings towards Obama are irrelevant to the debate over your quote.

HB you surely have to be a beer can short of a 6-pack!!!  JMK posted the pages on my behalf because I didn't get the links right - the reason the words on those pages don't match the ones you wrote are because (as Kitsune succinctly put) they are what Obama actually wrote.  Your words cannot be found because they don't exist - that is the whole point.

Summed up - you're wrong.  And the people who are giving you this information are also wrong - in fact go and and ask them for actual proof.  I bet you a bottle of Ginger Beer they can't - because I have reproduced the proof you are wrong and you can't disprove what is correct.

Other people in the forum can get that you're wrong - there is NO shame in being wrong - what is a shame is being completely bigoted and close-minded to anyone's arguments. AND then ranting and raving and being very rude and unpleasent whenever someone tries to reason with you.  If one of my daughters spoke like you I would curl up in a ball with shame at the atrocious manners.  If you were a 2 year old I'd send you to the naughty corner.

I love what Java wrote - she is my idea of a quietly patriotic American - you would do better by ranting less and adopting her quiet and respectful attitude, and there are many other peace makers here too.

You are allowed to dislike politicians, we all do - but for goodness sake be polite when you are dissing them and respect the fact that there are other forum members who like them. If you respect these differences then they will respect yours. It's a two way thing.  There is lots of banter here - a lot of healthy disagreements - but you go a step too far.

By the way what you are doing is coming very close to libel - which (in case you don't know) is the publication of defamatory matter in permanent form.  This is a public forum and the things you write are here for ever.
