Just asking. :)

I hardly waited to play them, but...

Well, I was wondering about when to fit in a rally competition. Then there was all that drama over the decathlon and I decided that it really wasn't worth my while running competitions. A whole lot of grief and a whole lot of work - and all I get for it is suggestions that I use my system to cheat. Not really my idea of fun so I can live without it.

Obviously, though, anyone else is more than welcome to pick up the idea and run with it.

With the World Cup now running, I'm not going to take another competition. I know how hard it is to do things manually (experienced from the Factolympics).
Which btw, I don't know how often we will have the Factolympics.

According to the people's suggestions I read, they like to play it, only during the Summer and the Winter Olympics. Any suggestions from you on when the 2nd Factolympics will take place?

Me?

I'd have suggested every four months. It's probably a little too involved to run every month - particularly doing everything manually. Every four months gives enough time in between each competition for people to find it fresh each time plus giving you a break and fitting in with the Olympic cycle (albeit with months instead of years).

On the other hand, the first competition of a particular kind is always the toughest. You don't really know what you're doing (the organiser, I mean, not you personally), the participants aren't certain either and there can be plenty of teething problems.

For example, in the Factolympics, you had the problem of how to handle ties (I did try to warn you!). I'm not sure anyone was particularly keen on the random number solution because it just feels a bit hollow to go through on the roll of a die - but with a rigid schedule there wasn't much choice. Perhaps in the next one you'd choose to have a more flexible schedule or something?

So, it's tempting to run competitions a lot once you've got over that first hurdle. You've put in the hard work, ironed out a lot of the issues and you want the next one to come along so you can put into practice everything you've learnt. You'll probably be putting some of what you learnt in the Factolympics into practice in your Fact World Cup - but still, you'll have a learning curve with a new competition.

As soon as you start running a competition on a regular basis though, people start taking it (and you) for granted. ;)

I like the idea of having it every four months. Sounds great.

So it was in August, so the next will be in November (if I'm right).

5 or six disciplines from the athletics will be replaced with new. Since I don't want to push you that the half of the Factolympics are track & field (since I do track&field). I feel like a pusher. :)

*** The word pusher came to me from the movie "Mean Girls" with Lindsay Lohan. One of my favorite movies.

The Factacular Cup will be monthly, I will need some help with the sending on the first day, cause I will have over 48 challgenges to sent. Not much, but you know that manually is slow and....

Kristian, just a suggestion, if you have groups of eight, why dont you choose one reliable player from each group to send them out for you for that day and that group and report to you the brainoff ID?

would cut down on your work and i know i wouldn't mind doing it.

That's a great idea. Well, the reliable players should send the brainoffs at specific time: for example from 14 to 15 GMT.

I guess that's good to have 8 reliable players (not captains). I am one. We need seven more. I'll think about it. And with Tushers, six more.

I'll consider it.

there are a lot of Reliable players but you need to know they are reliable not take their word for it!!

If i were you, i would choose the others, not accept volunteers, the regulars on the competitions will not mind helping. I can send anytime from 08:00 GMT untill 16:00 daily! not a problem
