Day 27 – A movie that you wish you had seen in theaters

Lord of the Rings - Return of the King. I thought that Return of the King was the most graphic and colourful of the trilogy. Minas Tirith, the battle scenes and the CGI of Gollum would have been wonderful on the big screen, but I had to settle for Blue Ray HD on a mere 46" TV.

Saw those on the big screen and they definitely benefited from the scale.

Lawrence of Arabia I would have liked to have seen at the movies.

A lot of old movies I missed I have since seen, but there is one I'd love to have seen "Night of the Demon" a terrific gothic tale of supernatural happenings. Creepy movie!!

Psycho

There's an iconic scene in Psycho - I won't mention it in detail - which the vast majority of people know about. It's almost impossible to watch the film these days without knowing what's going to happen.

I wish I'd seen the film without that fore-knowledge because Hitchcock's misdirection is fantastic and for audiences of the time that iconic scene must have come as a complete shock.

I think I'm glad I didn't see that on the big screen, scared me enough on my tv screen.

I think for me it's Avatar.

Seeing it in HD is cool. But I think the whole 3D thing would have been cooler in this case. Especially in IMAX......a format I have grown particularly fond of....just one of the reasons why "The Dark Knight" is the best superhero film.

Avatar was definitely cool in 3D and on the big screen. Some scenes were breathtaking

When people say stuff like that about Avatar I start to wonder whether slight weaknesses in my eyesight (namely right eye dominance) mean that I don't get the same 3D experience as other people.

I saw Avatar in 3D IMAX and remained unconvinced that 3D was anything other than a mildly diverting distraction from the story line (or lack thereof).

Well I found out I can't see 3D properly if I don't wear my glasses. Normally only wear them for driving but now also for 3D movies.
