Arts & Lit Tournament Sign Up January 2012
Really late notice for this sorry.
Welcome to the Bookworms and Budding Botticellis Tournament
Consider yourself an arts whiz?
Is literature your forte?
Is the ‘Complete Works of Shakespeare’ your best friend?
Do you count baa baa black sheep to get to sleep?
Are you a closet bookworm or a recovering bibliomaniac?
Do you play ‘Name that Sculptor’ at parties?
Is your art collection the envy of all your friends?
Or do you just want a bit of fun?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then this is the tournament for you.
The Bookworms and Budding Botticellis tournament will commence on Monday January 23rd at approximately 8.15 am GMT.
The rules are listed below. To take part, simply post “I’m in” in this thread. Sign-up closes 7am Monday January 23rd GMT.
GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION
Competition will consist of six (6) different Arts & Literature subject brainoffs of 10 questions being sent everyday for five days - a total of 30 different Arts and Literature subjects. You will receive brainoffs from ‘Tournament Helper’. Only the Tournament Organiser and her Partner have knowledge of the subjects to be sent. Hopefully there will be something to suit everyone.
The competition will be an individual one but you will be playing in groups in a similar manner to the Decathlon. The individual with the highest cumulative total wins. A progressive Results Table will be posted in a public forum. In the case of a tie The Tournament Organiser or her Partner will send three (3) specific subject brainoffs to break the tie. Awards will be given at the end of the tournament for whatever takes the fancy of Tournament Organiser and her Partner.
In case the Factacular site hiccups, we will spring into action and resolve issues as soon as the site is up and running and continue with the competition. We do respectfully ask that everyone play their challenges as soon as possible after receiving them --- you will be less likely be affected if the site goes down. We will only replay challenges if the site is down for more than 12 hours on the last day of a challenge. We will not replay for anyone letting the challenge time out or for minor site glitches.
The Tournament Organiser or her Partner volunteer their own time, so have some patience with the resolution of any problems that you may encounter and expect that there may be delays in the immediate posting of results as these are updated manually. Please send a private message to JMK or Javalyne if you encounter problems or discrepancies. Decisions made by Tournament Organiser or her Partner are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
So…
Invite other members to come and play! Let’s see a spirit of fun and lots of friendly comments in the brainoffs. Remember - it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.
But wait, there’s more!!
Just for fun we will be running a RALLY COMP alongside the Arts & Literature tournament. If you sign up for the Arts & Literature Tournament you will be automatically entered in the rally comp, although if you don't play it won't affect your Arts & Literature Tournament scores as these will be totally separate.
You will get one rally challenge each day for the five days. The winner will be the person who gets the highest total on all the rallies. Scores will not be capped.
Rally topics
Great Non Fiction - Geography and History
Fiction- Classic Children's
Fiction - General
Name the Painter - Post - Impressionist
